Cibus has an immediate opening for a Research Associate position to help us to revolutionize plant breeding using our unique, patented RTDS™ gene editing technology to produce sustainable industrial and agricultural products and improve human health by safely harnessing Nature's own genetic diversity.
The position will help create gene editing products and chemistry for Productivity Traits and Sustainable Ingredients. The successful applicant will be expected to assist with all aspects of media preparation, laboratory maintenance and laboratory support. This position will work as part of a team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to learn and grown in a matrixed environment focused on cutting edge gene editing technology.
Role Responsibilities:
- The position will support the company by ensuring delivery of media and reagents for a variety of plant tissue culture applications. The successful applicant will be expected to assist with all aspects of media preparation including stock calculations, unit conversions, dilutions, use of aseptic technique, equipment maintenance, equipment calibration, and quality control.
- Washing, drying, and sterilizing glassware and consumables and distributing it to appropriate locations within the lab.
- Contribute towards the organization, acquisition, and documentation of consumables inventory.
- Handling and autoclaving lab waste.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, experience, skills:
- 1 - 2 years of experience in a biology laboratory setting (university or biotech) is desired.
- Candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, proficient in unit conversions, and know how to read/use micropipettes.
- Prior experience with aseptic technique and media production is a plus.
- Desire and willingness to improve process efficiency, innovation, and use best judgment to solve problems.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Proactively communicates with supervisor and teammates.
- Strong sense of accountability; self-motivated, and enjoys working in a highly collaborative, dynamic, and fast-paced research environment.
- Proficient in MS Office suite and willingness to learn LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Candidate must be open to a flexible schedule.
