Cibus is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Controlled Environments (CE) Manager, for its Roseville, MN, facility. The person will be, responsible for leading a team that propagates, maintains, and manages a variety of crop plant trials in growth chambers and greenhouses. The incumbent will collaborate closely with cross-functional, teams, across R&D to develop and hand-off source material, edited crop plants and tissue samples suitable for downstream analysis. The individual will be critical to develop, document and track protocols, including pest management, necessary for high-throughput delivery of quality plants produced in a safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a small team committed to building and optimizing quality processes for the growth of variety of crop plants in growth chambers and greenhouses.
  • Partner with facilities manager to maintain and upgrade controlled environment facilities at the Roseville, MN site.
  • Coordinate with Controlled Environment teams at other sites to leverage best practices and harmonize shared methods.
  • Set an example of team culture, quality, and safety.
  • Work with external vendors to maintain and repair facilities.
  • Maintain and expand automated environmental control, monitoring, and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with internal R&D groups to ensure smooth transfer of relevant material from CE to lab and back to CE.
  • Direct plant crossing and early seed increases.
  • Develop crop specific methods for plant propagation.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on throughput, capacity, and key performance indicators.
  • Be a licensed pesticide applicator in the state of Minnesota.
  • Maintain seed/germplasm inventory and track germplasm purity.
  • Ensure compliance with germplasm license agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with three years of experience or bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in plant science, agronomy, horticulture, breeding, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience growing multiple crops, including soybean, canola, maize, wheat and/or hemp.
  • Working knowledge of environmental monitoring systems and seed processing equipment.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with teams from varied scientific backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of Genovix/ Agrobase software
  • Experience writing and following SOPs.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Genovix/ Agrobase software
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting on throughput, milestones, and forecasting.
