Cibus has an immediate opening for a Cell Biology Group Leader position. This position will lead a team to develop crop specific platforms that are suitable for trait development using gene editing techniques. An Ph.D. degree is preferred with a minimum of 8-12 years of relevant science experience or its equivalent. The successful applicant will have extensive applied working knowledge of scientific principles and strategies in plant tissue culture processes such as cell culture techniques, somatic embryogenesis, shoot regeneration, transformation, and micropropagation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team to develop crop specific platforms that are suitable for trait development using gene editing techniques.
  • Must have extensive applied working knowledge of scientific principles and strategies in plant tissue culture processes such as cell culture techniques, somatic embryogenesis, shoot regeneration, transformation, and micropropagation.
  • Applied working knowledge of scientific principles and strategies in plant trait development through gene editing techniques is a plus.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include leading a team of direct and indirect reports setting goals, accountabilities, and team structure to achieve multiple long-term projects.
  • Demonstrates the ability to broadly trouble-shoot projects, deal with unknowns and advocates courses of action.
  • Scouts for new scientific literature and routinely applies knowledge towards R&D, commercial development, and actively contributes to Cibus’ intellectual property portfolio.
  • Demonstrates leadership by being proactive, showing initiative, enabling others, and leading by example.
  • Influences and motivates others at all levels of the organization.
  • Strives to build consensus and achieve commitment within and across teams.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree is preferred with a minimum of 8-12 years of relevant science experience or its equivalent.
