Research Associate – Cell Biology

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple plant cell biology related tasks towards meeting project milestones and deadlines.
  • Able to follow standard operating procedures and troubleshoot tissue culture related procedures.
  • Be able to improve upon procedures by incorporating scientific literature and personal experience.
  • Should be able to communicate research findings through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Position may entail supervisory responsibilities which could include the direct or indirect supervision of temporary workers in the functional team.

Knowledge, Experience, & Skills:

  • Experience working with plant protoplast/cell culture methods especially with recalcitrant species is desired.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with RTDS and in vitro plant micro propagation and regeneration systems in recalcitrant species is desirable.
  • Familiarity with microscopy, microphotography, and cytometry is a plus.

  • Strong organizational and motivational skills, accurate record keeping, and attention to detail.
  • Able to use judgment and make routine recommendations for resolving problems in moderately complex assignments.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt to minor changes in routine to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
