Sales and Product Manager

Location: Canada Southern Manitoba (Winnipeg) or Southern Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Regina)

Position Description:

Cibus is in the business of developing value-added traits that provide unique and differentiated products to our customers. These traits may be delivered to the customers through the sale or license of seeds that carry the unique traits. The Sales and Product Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the commercialization of Cibus’ new canola and flax products including those listed below.

Position Responsibilities

Specific job duties include:

  • Primary focus on North American canola – in particular Canada. As needed, provide support for the marketing of new crops and traits such as North American flax.
  • Build and implement a plan for a sales channel to effectively sell Cibus products.
    • Identify channel partners.
    • Propose value sharing proposition necessary to incentivize channel.
    • Negotiate contracts with channel partners.
  • Develop and support sales channel.
    • Hire and manage sales personnel to support sales channel.
    • Develop programs to provide agronomic support and product information to the sales channel.
    • Represent Cibus technology and corporate image to targeted sales distribution and farmer groups.
  • Build and implement a plan to effectively license Cibus traits and genetics to industry canola and flax seed companies.
    • Identify partners.
    • Propose value sharing proposition necessary to incentivize channel.
    • Negotiate contracts with channel partners.
    • License Cibus traits to industry seed companies.
  • Work with the sales and marketing teams to properly position Cibus products.
  • Develop a marketing plan for Cibus products which will include:
    • Collect price lists from the competition and develop a pricing strategy for the Cibus products.
    • Develop sales volume projections.
    • Conduct product lifecycle analysis and plans.
    • Participate in the development of promotions and advertising – i.e. increase brand awareness of Cibus at the farm gate.
    • Work closely with Cibus advertising and marketing agencies.
    • Lead the discussions around anticipated demand for the new products.
    • Identify and work with grain partners (i.e. Cargill) to develop new and creative ways to market Cibus products.
  • Analyze the market to understand competitive space and develop a strategy to effectively position Cibus’ new products.
  • Work with Finance to develop financial analysis and projections for Cibus products.
  • Contribute and support sales goals and volumes for budget planning.
  • Work with Product Development to identify trials needed to provide data which better support the launch and growth of new products.

Education, Experience and Related Skills:

  • B.S. degree in an agricultural field such as Agronomy, Ag Business, and Crop Science with 10-15 years of relevant experience; or its equivalent.
  • Previous experience working for a Seed Company is highly desirable.
  • Significant and demonstrable success in developing and managing a successful sales and marketing program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collect and interpret data to determine market trends and apply the learning to develop new product concept possibilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial, science, and agronomic reports and other legal and contract documents.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and critically analyze data, establish facts, draw valid inferences and provide creative solutions.

Temporary Intern – Lab Support

Location: San Diego, California - San Diego 92121
Position: Full-Time, Temporary Intern

Description:

Cibus US LLC, a leading Agricultural Biotechnology company in San Diego CA, has an immediate opening for a temporary, full-time Intern position in the Lab Support Group working from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The successful candidate will have an Associates degree in a relevant scientific discipline and a minimum of 0-2 years’ experience in a research and/or development environment is desired; or HS diploma and 2-4 years’ experience in a research and/or development environment or related field will also be considered; or its equivalent. The position will be involved in supporting the day-to-day operations of the lab, as well as interacting with science staff to support project needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties associated with the maintenance of lab stock and glassware. These duties may include: washing, drying, and sterilizing glassware and distributing it to appropriate locations within the lab.
  • Oversee and maintain the glass-washing facility, sterilize glassware and other items using an autoclave as well as perform routine maintenance of glass-washing equipment and routine maintenance of other lab equipment.
  • Will be required to receive all incoming products, match packing slips to corresponding PO’s and enter the information into a database.
  • Will be required to do a daily walk-through to check on all critical equipment as well as spotting any potential problems.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  • Previous laboratory or autoclave experience is required.
  • Previous receiving experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with trouble shooting and streamlining processes is a plus.
  • Ability to work in glassware room conditions, including tolerating humid conditions is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Good organizational and motivational skills, accurate record keeping, and attention to detail.
  • Able to use judgment to resolve problems and troubleshoot routine assignments.
  • Ability to multi-task routine assignments, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Able to follow SOPs.
  • Ability to adapt to minor changes in routine to achieve objectives.
  • Capable of standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/carry at least 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Free from any allergies related to plants.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.

Summer Intern – Product Development/Greenhouse NEW

Description:

Cibus US LLC, a leading Agricultural Biotechnology company in San Diego CA, has an immediate opening for a temporary, full-time Intern position in the Product Development Group. This position will be involved in assisting with the development of new traits derived using Cibus’ patented RTDS™ technology platform, supporting day-to-day operations of the greenhouse and growth room facilities, as well as interacting with product development and greenhouse staff on breeding projects.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a degree program (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s) in Horticulture science, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding or other relevant scientific discipline, and available for a 3-month contract between June and September.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine duties associated with the culture of a high quality crop. These duties include: planting, transplanting, thinning, irrigating, scouting for insects and diseases, pollinating, harvesting, drying, seed processing and packaging, data input, and machinery maintenance.
  • Assist with daily tasks related to crop-specific breeding strategies.
  • Participate in the improvement of greenhouse infrastructure or processes as needed.
  • Collect relevant data in a greenhouse and or laboratory environment to support breeding projects

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  • Previous greenhouse experience with crop-specific culture protocols or greenhouse/nursery operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with greenhouse lighting, watering, fertilization, pest control, and greenhouse environmental control systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good work ethic, good time management and organizational skills, accurate record keeping, and attention to details.
  • Able to follow SOPs.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work under greenhouse and field conditions, including: lifting, bending, tolerating high temperatures and humidity, and limited exposure to allergens for brief periods is required.
  • Must be able to lift 20-50 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Willing to travel to field sites and secondary greenhouse location.
